Is the Alienware M11x laptop a GOOD gaming computer?

Hi im a pretty hardcore gamer and likes to play games like Modern warefare 2 .
I really wanted the Alienware M11x and i know that the graphic card is 1gb Nvidia but the problem is that the processor is -Intel® Pentium™ SU4100 1.3GHz (2MB Cache)-
And I thought you need a real good processor to play these games… so … is it just for watching video and stuff?

Are you kidding? That’s a Netbook!!!

Gaming laptops cost about $1500. If you’re a hardcore gamer then you know damn well that a built desktop is the way to go.

It’s the most powerful laptop of its size, should work with MW2 though im unsure how powerful the Pentium SU4100 is.
you will need a external USB DVD drive to install something like Modern Warfare 2.

Not at all good, its a Netbook with a crap Pentium processor which 1/3rd powerful as a Core2Duo. You need a good processor like Core i3 or Core i5, and a good graphics card like the new DirectX 11 graphics chips from ATI.

I know an excellent gaming laptop for an affordable price.

    Acer Aspire AS5740G-6979 for $799
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834115733
    Intel Core i5-430M(2.26GHz) (4 Threads!)
    4GB DDR3
    500GB
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 1Gb GDDR3 with DirectX 11 support for future gaming: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RD-EbKevQW4
True 5.1 Channel Surround Sound Output

This is one damn good gaming laptop. With Core i5 4 threads processor and Turbo Boost, and new ATI 5650 graphics card with DirectX 11 support, you can play any game in the world on this laptop in High settings. GTA IV and Crysis are playable in High settings on this laptop. You cannot get a better laptop than this for this price range. And Acer as you know is an excellent brand and No.3 in the world after buying Gateway, so you get International warranty.

It is really powerful for a 11 inch netbook. I think you should be able to play most non-cpu taxing games on it. (COB MW2 should work fine)

    Benchmark scores in comparsion:
    Intel SU4100 @ 1.30GHz: 979
    Intel Pentium D 3.40GHz: 920
    Intel Core2 Duo E8400 @ 3.00GHz: 2373
    Intel Core2 Duo E4400 @ 2.00GHz: 1163

    Intel Atom N450 @ 1.66GHz:321
AMD Athlon Neo X2 Dual Core L335: 878
(As you can see, the processor is pretty good for a netbook)

however, if you want a true gaming laptop (usually quite big),

in dedicated graphics mode you can play with settings on high 30fps unless a lot is going on then it gets a little laggy but with that 1GHz GPU you’ll be just fine

  6. vettesr1 Says:
