I have seen some pictures of the Canon Rebel XT (digital) and am going to be borrowing one to use in about a week, and in the pictures, it shows a strip of something about a centimeter above the LCD screen… What is this for/what is it’s purpose?

I have a Dell Inspiron E1405 and whenever I put the top down without closing it completly, two 1-inch black bars appear on both sides of the screen. Anyone know how to get rid of these?
I have an LG ENV2 phone from Verizon. For some unknown reason the when I open it to the screen, it is blank, but the outside display works fine. Has this happened to anyone? Any suggestions on how to get the screen working again? Thanks so much!
I am learning to use a Cannon 30D camera, but am having trouble getting the image to display on the LCD screen while shooting the picture. I can get the images to playback, but I need to be able to see it while taking the picture because the viewfinder is not adequate for my vision.
The LCD display has turned dark and the image displayed is shadowy and mostly dark.
I don’t know how it happened but my 30GB Zune lcd screen is now cracked, i’m hoping i can replace with a new one.

I’ve just bought a Toshiba Regza LCD TV and someone touched the screen two days ago. It left a greasy mark in the middle of the screen. I can’t get rid of it. Toshiba say use a dry cloth – well that’s not shifting it. Any tips?
